About the Ben Enwonwu online catalogue project
The Ben Enwonwu Foundation is embarking on an exciting new project to publish Ben Enwonwu’s entire artistic output in a multi-volume, illustrated online catalogue.
The online catalogue will also feature previously unpublished works and is aimed at connecting works of art to their bibliographic and exhibition history.
It will eventually become the world’s most comprehensive resource on Ben Enwonwu.
The process will be approached chronologically, working decade by decade, from the beginning of the artist’s career.
Information will be compiled in three broad areas—works of art made by Enwonwu, exhibitions in which his work featured, and published references to his work (bibliography). Our first priority is to publish online, basic catalogue details for all of works (in all media and all collections) i.e. title, date, material, dimensions, catalogue number and credit line. Interpretive texts will be added where possible. Exhibition and bibliography research will follow but in the interim, records may be necessarily incomplete.
The bibliography records will provide the title, author, publisher and date of each publication plus a summary of the text and content on Enwonwu. The Foundation will aim to create links to individual works of art in the catalogue when they are cited or illustrated.
Exhibition records will detail groups of Ben Enwonwu’s works that appeared together in exhibitions, along with explanatory texts and installation images where possible. These will also be linked to the records of individual works.
